Out of the field into to frying pan

It might not appear on many Vietnamese restaurant menus overseas, but frog is a common dish in up-country northern Vietnam. Whether tossed in to a stir-fry, pounded into a hot soup or simply grilled and dipped in garlicky chili sauce, frog is a tasty and cheap source of protein for the rural population. It’s truly extraordinary food for ordinary people. You should not visit Hanoi without trying frog, one the local specialties and an ideal dish for chilly spring days.
